Michelle Bowden Artist
A multi-media artist based in Suffolk, experimenting in blurring traditional artist skills, crafts and digital media. with subjects ranging from the human form to natural objects realism to the abstract.

Current focus
Working across painting sculpture, textiles, installation, photography and digital media, my practice examines the interconnected relationships between people, place and the natural environment. Drawing on imagery from coastal landscapes, forests, oceans and organic forms to figurative subjects, I explore themes of fragility, transformation, and ecological resilience. Experimentation is central to my process, combining recycled textiles, paint, wire, plaster, printmaking, image transfer, sewing and the moving image to create layered, material-led works. Informed by a lifelong impulse to make and a growing concern for the climate crisis, my work invites reflection on our responsibility to the environments we inhabit and the futures we collectively shape.

Art Duo Mark and Michelle
Mark & Michelle are a collaborative art duo working predominantly in oil paint on a shared surface. Responding directly to current events, they use humour as a way to navigate and process an ever-shifting political landscape, often revising and transforming works as the news cycle unfolds. Their practice grows from ongoing philosophical debates, which evolve into portrait-led scenes featuring the thinkers, public figures, and personalities that have shaped their conversations. Through collaboration, satire, and constant reinvention, their paintings become a record of dialogue in a rapidly changing world.
Beyond the studio, Mark and Michelle value the connections they have built within an international community of artists, collectors, and creative thinkers. These relationships, spanning many countries and cultures, continually enrich their perspectives and contribute to the conversations that inspire their work.
